New Zealand Certificate in English Language Foundation

(Level 1) 60 Credits



The aim of the programme of study is to provide a mechanism to develop beginner English language proficiency and prepare graduates for further educational pathway, as well as a possible opportunity to utilise these basic skills in everyday situations and events within communities and outside their own cultural context.

Learners will have the language skills required to communicate, with support, in a very basic, familiar, everyday situations in order to begin to participate in an English language environment. 


Employment Pathways

Graduates of this qualification will have the English language skills to work in positions in which minimal communication is required and instructions and commands may be accompanied by supporting visual aids, such as gestures and graphics.

Education Pathways

Graduates may progress into the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (Level 1) [Ref:1880]
