CERTIFICATE IN YOUTH& WORK (LEVEL 4)
This programme is intended for people who intend to develop their skills, knowledge and practice within the youth work sector. People will learn how to be youth workers who have the operational and theoretical knowledge, skills and attitudes to contribute to the development and safety of taiohi.

On the programme students will learn how to carry out youth work roles under managerial supervision and guidance; and how to support the social and cultural aspirations of Maori and Pacific people(s) and demonstrate their commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through their interactions with taiohi and their communities and their work.
PROGRAMME CONTENT:
The programme integrates theory, placement and self-study. This provides learners with foundational knowledge, practice and experience that can be applied to various roles within the youth work sector.
The course content consists of a Unit Standard structure and various Modules, such as:

Te Tiriti o Waitangi in Youth Work Practice

Youth Mental Health, Hauora, and Digital Safety

Youth Mentorship Techniques

Ethical Practice in Youth Work

Creating Safe Spaces for Youth Development

Leadership and Evaluation in Youth Development Projects

Facilitating Youth Empowerment

Monday - Thursday, 9:00am - 2:30pm (this will vary during the programme duration)

DELIVERY OPTIONS:
In order to ensure that this programme is accessible to various learners, there are two options for studying the Certificate programme:

Option 1: On-campus learning and 200 hours of a supervised practicum where students will learn hands-on in a youth work environment.

Option 2: A mix of online study and on-campus learning and 200 hours of a supervised practicum where students will learn hands-on in a youth work environment.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
-
NCEA Level 2 (or equivalent)
-
or Hold a qualification in Healthcare or equivalent
-
or have a keen interest in Youth Work and successfully attend an interview
-
Must complete a police vetting form
-
Agree to undertake a volunteer work placement organised by Skill New Zealand if needed.
