PROGRAMME CONTENT:
The course content consists of a Unit Standard structure, and includes the following assessment criteria:

Academic English language skills are required to understand extended, complex oral academic texts on a wide range of topics

Academic English language skills are required to engage in extended spoken academic discourse on a wide range of topics

Academic English language skills are required to understand extended, complex written academic texts on a wide range of topics

Academic English language skills are required to write well-structured, sophisticated, extended academic texts on a wide range of topics.
DURATION & HOURS:
In-class delivery:
Course Duration: 18 weeks (including 2-week break)
Class hours: 9:00 am to 2:30 pm Monday to Thursday
EDUCATION PATHWAY:
This will allow a direct pathway in terms of the language requirements
for the following tertiary providers: Skill New Zealand, AUT University,
and Whitecliffe*.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

18+ years old
-
Students must have achieved a score of academic
IELTS 5.5 with no band lower than 5 or equivalent; OR -
Students must have achieved the New Zealand Certificate
in English Language (Academic) Level 4; from Skill New Zealand
or another New Zealand provider; OR -
Students must take the Skill NZ placement test to determine their
current English Language level
